  1. The published number is 1-866-234-2942  if that does not work for you call the Taxpayer Advocate Service a 1-877-777-4778.

  2. If you owed any federal debt the payment would have been offset to the debt.  Check IRS website www.irs.gov "wheres my stimulus" and/or call stimulus hotline at 1-866-234-2942.  Or visit your local IRS office, take a picture ID.

  3. Call the 800 number on the IRS website.  You start a claim, and they have to trace your rebate.  If it was cashed, they will send you forms to fill out.  If it was not cashed, they will reissue a check.  The process supposedly takes about 6 weeks, but what the lady told me yesterday was that they are getting flodded with calls from people who haven't gotten their checks and the paperwork is starting to pile up.

  4. I just got my letter a few days ago and it said if I don't receive the check in 6 weeks (I think) to call.  I'm at work and my letter is at home or I would give you the number off of it.  You can go to www.irs.gov and click on stimulus checks.  It will give you an 800 number to call.  It is automated and you'll enter you SSN and information from your tax return.  If it can't help you then it will give you another 800 number to call.  I called the first 800 number when I hadn't received my letter and it gave me a second 800 number.  They were taking a lot of calls so you might have to wait on hold or try back several times but start with that first 800 number that's on the IRS website for stimulus checks.

  5. Before you waste any time calling, go here.  This is a program at the irs.gov website that will check your account in real time.

    https://sa1.www4.irs.gov/irfof/IRServlet...

  6. Try calling 1-800-829-0582, extension 726. If the check was indeed issued (and not offset to another debt), they can initiate a trace.

By the way, don't bother calling the Taxpayer Advocate as mentioned in another response. They will NOT take any action related to stimulus checks.
