  1. As a responsible hunter, you are obligated to find the bear and put it out of its misery. If you are with other hunters, take them along. If you can't trail it because of blood drops, get dogs to track it.Also, inform the local Game Warden, so he will be on the lookout for the bear. A wounded bear is a danger to everyone that comes in contact with it.

  2. How did you pull that off. If you shot the back legs by "accident" then you need to sight in your rifle before you do anything else.

  3. If you shoot it in the leg and wound it then you need to do everything in your power to find the bear finish it off and retrieve your game choosing another target so to speak is not an option any and all efforts and attention should be focused on the wounded animal

  4. if you shoot a bear in the leg by accident then i hope you have a good excuse. what you are going to do is pretty much chase it. if you have the tag for a bear then you have to. its your kill, i recomend not going by yourself. because bears are very smart in survivng for as long as possible. stay alert!

thats all i have. hoped it helps.

  5. You should report it to your local Sheriff's department or better yet call 1-800-poacher and explain to them what you've done.

  6. As an ethical hunter, that bear, and anything it does from now on,

    is your responsibility.

A wounded bear is far more dangerous than a healthy one,

    (which will normally avoid people).

Get some help in tracking & finishing it. It's now quite dangerous.

How the h*** did you shoot anything "by accident"?

  7. Ron, your question is fishy.  If you shoot a bear, by accident none-the-less, why isn't the bear chasing you?  A wounded bear is nothing to mess with.  I know of two hunters that were bear-mauled nearly to death by a wounded beat with a solid torso hit.  The bear just quit when it finally succumbed to the bullet wound.  Shoot a bear in the leg and you're just gonna get it mad.

  8. shooting a bear in the leg wont kill it so dont look for it to be dead. I suggest u go hunting for another bear but be patient and if u see a bear with a bad leg it will be urs and this time bare down and make the shot.

  9. I hope this is a hypothetical question.  How do you shoot a bear in its leg by accident?  Why are you typing on a computer in an internet forum instead of being out hunting?  It isn't dark anywhere in the continental US.

Hypothetically, an ethical hunter always makes every effort to retrieve wounded game.  I personally would not want to be "chasing" a wounded bear without dogs though.  Don't do it alone and bring friends with large enough guns.....
