Hello, there is kitten that lives outside my house and is preatty much my cat because we feed it cat food and let it stay in our house during the day. One day I saw a white thing coming out of her butt. My dad says its probably worms. Now i cant take it to the vet because I dont have a cage and I imagine that she would freak out if i took it into a car. Is there any type of common household medicine that I can crush up into her food to make her better? Maybe benydril or something?

  1. Benadryl is for allergies. That will do nothing for worms. Do NOT self medicate your cat. Giving it the wrong dose of human medication will likely kill it. Plus, there is no over the counter people medicine for worms. You should go to the store and buy a carrier, and take it to the vet. Even it freaks out in the car it doesn't matter, she'll be in a cage. If you don't, the worms will eventually get into the cat's heart and kill it.

  2. Most drugstores carry vetenary medicines.  Ask for pin worm tablets and follow the directions on the box.

It take a certain technique to make a cat or dog swallow the tablet. You have to put one hand around the back of her head and close your thumb and third or fourth finger fronm each  side of her mouth in order to get her mouth open.  Almost at the same time you have to have the tablet between your left thumb and index finger  so you can put it into her mouth. You have to get it far back in the throat and then hold her snout shut for a few seconds while  she dry swallows.  It isn;t so easy to do until you get the knack of doing it.  So if you can get someone who knows how to do it and can show you that would be a help but  if you don't have anyone to show you you can try and try untill you get it done.  Other people have leaned to do it alone and if you have to you can do it too.  Good Luck and please do look at the sites I have included below.

Don't worry once you give her the treatment the worms die and she will be ok.

You might think of having her spaded and invite her in to become a very nice housecat. Cats keep compamy and make you feel better when you are blue or depressed.  AND CATS ARE THE CLEANEST INSIDE THE HOUSE ANIMALS.  You will need a litter box.

  3. Sorry, but your going to have to take her to the vet.

First, it isn't just 'worms'. There are different types of worms: Roundworms, Tapeworms, Heartworms, etc.

Now, since it was coming out with her waste, It was likely roundworms or tapeworms. If it was like the size of a piece of rice then it is probably tapeworms. If it was like spaghetti, then it is probably roundworms. Depending on which it is - You'll need a special medicine to kill all the worms, which you have to get from a vet.

Both tapeworms and roundworms take away nutrients from an animal. It is common for young kittens and puppies to have worms.

And when your animal is sick, it doesn't matter if they will enjoy the car ride there and back, it just matters that you get them healthy again.

DO NOT give the cat any sort of human medication. This could kill her. Never try to self medicate an animal!! Unless you just happen to have a degree in veterinarian medicine. And even then I would suggest double checking with another professional.

    Hope this helps!
