What should I do if I am at the beach and a big wave is about to crash into me hard? I have had this happen a couple times and one time a wave almost broke my nose. Those things are dangerous. What should I do If I can't get out of the way in time?

  1. my adice ids to go into the wave btu if you dont think you can swim inside of it  like if it had too strong a current try too dig your feet into the sand or duck and the water to avoid it and once your dont hear any roaring above you get up but make sure theres no waves when you get up

  2. pray

  3. I've lived in Florida all my life and I know the feeling of getting crashed into. Luckily I've learned. It's simple, all you have to do is dive under the wave as it comes. Very easy and painless.

  4. Hold your breath

  5. take a deep breath..... dive into it

  6. Try to negotiate.

  7. it is best to go under a wave.  some people like to dive through them but simply going under the water before it hits works also.  living on the coast of NC i prefer to go over them since the salt water really irritates my eyes but our waves our pretty small here.

  8. the smartest thing to do is NOT GO THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE

  9. jump

  10. Go under the water, dont try to stay on top of the wave. It is easier to stay in control if you dive under the wave.

  11. Go below it... it wont hurt you it might push you but wont hurt you... just go underwater when it is reallynear you and wait for it to pass and then go back to the surface

  12. Leap up high, or dive right under.

Diving under is a lot safer because there is no wave under there.

What we like to do, is to try and jumping over it.

  13. probably p**s your pants!! lol

  14. i know this sounds stupid but my lifeguard instructor told me this.  you have to swim under water and towards the wave. this way you'll go underneath the wave but if you try to swim away then the wave will easily catch up.

  15. swim down i think

  16. Dive into it

  17. if you can stand, turn sideways

  18. IF you know how to swim be prepared to swim away and if you don't know learn to swim. you should also wear maybe safety gears if it helps.

  20. either dont go that far in the water in the first place, wear a helmet, or like maybe you could swim under them or just jump over them.

  21. Close your mouth

  22. You duck underwater and it will go right over you. If you don't get underwater fast enough, then you get pounded.

  23. Dive into the wave and wait until it passes over you.  Check out my source for more info!  Hope that helps!   =]

  24. Just ride it out is what I always did.

  25. have it hit you on the side.. not straight on

  26. Dive down as far as you can in less than 3 seconds. Then take the position of a cannonball, whilst covering your ribs and face. This way, the only real problem you face is if you get hit in the back, in which you can't really protect.

Just don't panic, that's probably the best thing.

  27. I have never been in this situation, if I had the time, I would turn so the water doesn't hit my face,  and maybe get into a ball, depending if I am just wading in the water or if I am far out in the water I would dive under and swim down a good few feet so I would be less likely to get hurt by the force of the wave hitting my skin.

  28. dive under it

  29. First, try running. If there is no time, at least make sure that you turn around. You will at least not break your nose if you do this.

  30. Wave back.

  31. MOVE!
