What should I do if i feel ignored by family?

Not only that, but for some reason I'm ridiculed by my stepdads family. We don't visit often but they think that I'm spoiled rotten (yeah, definitely, losing my dad when i was 11 and living on welfare with my mom for awhile makes me spoiled..), and that I'm materialistic because I like clothes. I try to be nice to them and everything, but they talk about me and think all these negative things, and it hurts..

I'd say get over it., ur usually the center of attention and when ur sick step brother is over, they focus on him, so what???  he's sick , ushould be giving hmi attention too.

have you sat down with just your mom and explained how this makes you feel? i am sure it is hard for you to talk to your step dad and the fact that your step brother is autistic must be difficult as well. i don't think you are being selfish or overreacting i think that you are probably feeling a little out of place when your brother comes around. i'm sure your mom and step father don't ignore you on purpose, infact they probably just have a lot to deal with. if you are feeling left out maybe you should plan something your whole family can participate in ( a game of cards, a board game maybe watch a movie together) or maybe when you are feeling left out you could go visit a friend or another family member i hope i have been helpful at least, good luck!

well you need to corner mom whos probably better at these issues and tell her how you feel and tell your stepfather to but I dont think you are going to get any attention when the brother is around because of the attention he does need and you know this and it does not mean you are not loved
