Hi, I am 16 years old and I have braces, i have had them on for 4 and a half years! my teeth were NOT even that terrible to begin with....but my orthodontist will have me come in and change nothing! and then not schedule me another appt. for 9 weeks! so I am getting very very frustrated....But the thing is at this point the only thing that isn't perfect in my mouth is my back molers. They are not perfectly aligned..and at this point in my life i dont care about my back molers no one ever sees them, and I just want my braces off more than anything. My orthodontist is not being fair and i will take advice from anyone who wants to input. Should i wait this out? =[ or should i tell them to take them off now?

  1. If you've already had them for 4 1/2 years, you might as well wait until you're completely done your treatment. If you really think that your orthodontist isn't doing what he/she should be, you can always get a second opinion. I know how you feel, my orthodontist said I needed braces for a year, and I ended up having them for 3. Everyone hates their braces, but I can promise in your 20s and 30s, you'll be very happy that you had them. I know I am now, even though they sucked at the time. My teeth weren't bad when I started either, but I had a bad overbite. My mom took before and after pictures, and while my teeth were straight, my profile wasn't very nice. My whole face looks more balanced now. I would just wait it out. But like I said, you could always go see another orthodontist and see what they say.

  2. I've had my braces for 6 1/2 years

Im sure you are used to them by now

Just be patient and trust your orthodontist

  3. wait it out sucks but life is long

    or seek another dr.'s advice

  4. Just finish your treatment. My good friend had her braces off before her teeth were "done", and her teeth moved back so fast. Just wait it out.

  5. Godd i don't know how youve managed to keep them for 4 and a half years. I only had mine for 4 months and that felt like forever for me :S. You you stick it out though because there will be a reason why he hasn't taken them off yet. Plus if you get them taken off now, there is a chance that your teeth could move back again gradually so you will have to wear a mould brace for at least 6 months anyway to ensure they don't move. So try and be patient and before you know it you'l have perfect straight teeth! =)

  6. i would wait it out.

your ortho is most likely doing whats best for you.

even if having your molars aligned seems like a silly thing now,

you will be grateful later in life when your teeth match up perfectly.

having those molars aligned, may also help with your jaw alignment.

so i would wait and see what happens.

on the bright side, if he doesnt change anything when you go it is painless! :D

    good luck!

  7. My son has had braces on for a lil over four years now. Chances are you may have an over bite and your not wearing your elastic all the time like recommended. The only way to have them off is to be honest and follow everything that he says to do. Then you will have them off.So with that being said, I would wait it out.
