I tried to kill it by slamming the cover on the page but it's GONE. It's a school textbook so I don't want to spray anything on it.

  1. Are they ticks or mites?  Sometimes older books get various types of mites and such that eat the glue in the binding.  If the infestation is not too noticeably, don't worry about it (in terms of turning it back in) -- but keep it away from other books.

If it is a tick -- deer, wood, dog, etc. -- then find the tick(s) and put them in rubbing alcohol!  Otherwise they will use you for their next meal!

  2. If you can, just spray a light spray of odorless bug spray down into the binding of the book, you'll see a little opening down the binder of the book, when the book is wide open. Don't soak it, but just a light spray should do it. Close the book and let it work on them.

    Good Luck,  ;-)
