Question:

What should I do in life?

I've been working for the city I live in for the past 8 years. It is a job at a recreational facility where I do maintenance work. The job is secure and I make decent money, the job is also easy, almost too easy. At the same time I have been volunteering in schools and studying to be an elementary school teacher. I have completed 2 years of college and 4 years of university. While this is the career I have always aspired to do, the prospects of a job in my area aren't too good and highly competitive. Should I stay with the 'job' I have or continue to pursue the 'career' i've always wanted. I have one year of school left.

  1. Do the career that you have always wanted. Your almost done with school, and you might regret not doing it. if its not what you wanted after all just try to get your old job back.

  2. Since you have a year left, you have time to scout out other parts of the country where job prospects might be better.  Check out these areas, and then decide on the basis of personal knowledge whether you want to relocate.  You may be close to friends or family where you are, and that or other factors should play a part.  Your school should have a career counseling office -- get their help, or fuse the resources of a school that does have such an office, if it's open to the public, as many such offices are (though not all).  Make your decision with a combination of knowledge and impulse, and you'll more likely be happy with the results.  Since the job you're in is safe, you have the luxury of less pressure to make a decision immediately.  Ask around at the school where you volunteer for suggestions, and also recommendation letters, if you haven't done so already.  It's important to build a resume and vita.  Good luck!!

  3. Pursue your goal./ Your will be happier and obtain a job. There may be transfer opportunities down the road./

  4. You should always pursue the career you have always wanted and try your hardest to go for it i bet you can do it if you try.
