Question:

What should I do on my bus trip tomorrow?

I have a Greyhound trip tomorrow morning. I was wondering if there are travel games I could play (NOT BUY) with cars and stuff. Also, I could download a movie from iTunes...but would like a suggestion (please see what they have...I don't want to hear a great suggestion, and then find out they don't have it). It is a five-hour trip, and this is my 100th time, so give me some ideas...within reason. I really don't feel like being arrested.

  1. I would be sure to take my IPod, Laptop and Cell phone those are all very useful when going on a trip.  There are several sites that you can print out crosswords or word searches for free those are a great way to keep you busy.  Here are some other road trip games:

    Counting Cows

    1)Cows = 1 point each.

    2) White Horse = 50 points

    3) Chimney by itself (house burnt down) = 50 points each.

    4) Peg legged man = 500 points each.

    5) Gray mule = 100 points each.

    6) Wind mill (out in pasture pumping water) = 50 points each.

    7) Sheep or goats (replace cows if none are around) = 1 point each.

    8) Cemetery = wipes out points.  Start back at zero (0).

Whoever gets the most points wins

    License Plate Game

To play the "License Plate Game", see how many different license plates you can find on your trip and check them off your list. Work as a team in the car, or individually.

    Travel Scavenger Hunt

Give each child a list of items to watch for while driving. Check of each item when they find it.  The list can be made up ahead of time and adjusted for the scenery. For a younger child who can't read, you might draw a little picture of each item next to the word so they will know what to look for.

    Slug Bug

Every time a VW Bug comes into view, the first one to see it shouts "Slug Bug!" and slugs the person sitting next to you (Not too hard though!).  Of course, these days in the politically correct atmosphere, we like to teach "non-violence", so instead of actual slugging, we do a symbolic slug and just say "Slug Bug! -- Gotcha!" You could also play "Hug Bug" and give someone a hug instead of a slug!

    I Spy

Look around and pick an object you can see either in the car or along the road. Then give others a clue such as, "I spy with my little eye... something green.", or "I spy with my little eye .. something brown and furry" Continue to give more clues until they can guess what it is.

    Twenty Questions

Think of an object, it can be anything as long as it is general. The first question the players will ask is: "Is it classified as Animal, Vegetable, or Mineral", or you can do "Person, Place or Thing". The players can then ask anything they want about the object as long as you are able to answer "yes" or "no" to their question. They try to ask questions that will help them narrow down their ideas until they are able to guess the object.  If they can do it in less than 20 questions, they win!

I would go to this site it has a lot of things you can print out for FREE it also has a whole bunch of other ideas that you can do on the bus.
