We have our practical exam about wine serving tomorrow. And I don't know what to do?

How is the proper serving?

My professor said you should ask the guest a bottle of wine. Is it true?

Please give me a step by step procedure for wine serving for Red Wine & White Wine.

  2. Are you at home serving? Or in a restaurant? As a Server or Wait Person you would say "would you like to select a wine to go with your dinner? May I recommend ---to you. They select, you get the proper glasses if they aren't on the table already and you get the wine, wipe off the bottle, get an ice bucket and fill with ice add some soda water from the bar (helps shorten chill time)take a napkin and make a necktie for the bottle, if it's white wine put it in the bucket, red leave out, go to the table set glasses, present the wine bottle label up to the one who ordered it, so they can see it's their selection, set it on the table cut the foil with your wine opener, s***w in the cork puller enough to get a grip, rest the lever on the rim of the bottle and lift the handle of the wine opener to remove cork, gently, don't splash, unscrew the cork- place it on the tasters napkin (he can check for mold or smell it for vinegar)remove the necktie from the bottle and wipe the mouth of the bottle to remove any cork piece or debris, pour a small mouthful into his or her glass, wait till they taste and approve or tell you to just go ahead and pour, then do so, half full is customary, white wine you replace in the ice bucket and tuck the now open "necktie" napkin around the bottle to "enhance chilling". Hope that helps!
