I am just wondering if anyone could give me abit of advice please on my current situation. I recently took a flat offered to me by a Housing Trust, but due to the amount of repairs that needed doing to the flat, i had to return the keys in June/July and didn't get them back until Friday 15th August. I had to fight for the repairs to be carried out, put complaints in and ask for help from local councillors. They were all very helpful and wrote to the housing on my behalf. I am currently 8 months pregnant and was due to settle down in the tenancy but cannot take it as i have been receiving threatening abuse and harassment off quite a few people that live across from the flat and around the area. I have been having trouble with these for over a year and it shows no sign of stopping as it is getting worse by the day. My boyfriend actually took them to court in February of this year and they received a 12 months bound over but to be honest it hasn't stopped them what-so-ever but made them worse. They have been threatening to ''smash my flat to bits,'' ''stab my baby in his pram,'' and ''kill me, my family and my boyfriend''. The police are involved and have said its OK for me to give out any information and incident numbers to help me be rehoused. But it is coming to a point where i cannot live in my home town where i have lived all my life. Due to my circumstances, i cannot go and have been advised not to go anywhere near the flat. I am also sleeping in a single bed in a box room with my boyfriend in his grandmothers house because i have nowhere else and it looks like i will still be here when my baby is born. I accepted the flat because i lived in a hostel beforehand and needed to be out of there, due to how far along i was in my pregnancy. Any advice would be very grateful. Thank you.

  1. keep bothering the council until your cry is absoulutely blown into a greater proportion of serious hands , and for your baby and your safety. Your best bet is to to stay at your grandmas boyfriend.

  2. Well, obviously people are angry with you for a reason.  I doubt that the average Joe would be so keen to inflict bodily harm on you if you were a sunny, happy person all year round.  If you and your boyfriend have not been the best people in the world, what kind of reactions do you expect?

That being said there's not much you can do.  With how unstable your life is, though, I would highly suggest placing your baby up for adoption.  No reason why they should be brought into your world of homelessness, violence and revenge.

If you are not wanting to do this, out of selfishness and vanity, then live in the box room.  It's a roof over your head, a place for you to shower and more than anything, a home for your child.

I would then recommend you cleaning up your act and becoming a responsible human in this world.

  3. You've rattled somebody's cage there, haven't you? Any idea why these neanderthals are after your blood? Either way, a box room and safety sounds better than that awful flat...

Can you not get right away and start again, with the help of the Police, doctor, etc?

  4. First of all, you should keep a diary of the abuse, etc you have been receiving, in order to present to police as proof. you could also contact your doctor, and ask him to provide a letter for your local council, stating thsat the circumstances in which you are living are unsuitable , particularly in your condition. your council should also help you with regard to the abusde you have been getting.

In all honesty, the best people to approach for help is your nearest Citizens Advice Bureau. You'd be surprised how much help and information they can give you, and can even help you to write letters, claim benefits, and in some cases, will even support you should you have to go to court.

whatever happens, I really wish you lots of luck....it sounds like you're really having a hard time...i hope it all goes well for you.
