a chef? I LOVE cooking, i'm starting high school this year, and I need some tips; colleges, high school classes; practice tips, information. etc.

you cant learn anything about cooking in school obviously,,,

you have to graduate high school or take private lessons

I  thought  High  Schools  had  stopped  offering  Home  Economics  or  Domestic  Science.  You'll  have  to  graduate  from  school  first  and  then  enroll  in  a  Culinary  Arts  Course  at  your  local  Community  College.  The  course  will  be  about  1  or  2  years  long.  If  you  go  to  one  of  those  elite  cooking  schools,  you  better  start  saving  your  money,  they  are  expensive.  But  they  usually  start  you off  on  a  pretty  good  job  upon  graduation.  Still  it  will  take  you  about  10  yrs.  to  work  your  way  up  to  a  really  good  paying  job.  Don't  plan  on  a  family,  cause  you  won't  ever  be  at  home;  you'll  be  at  work.

Enjoy the art of creation and cooking. If you don’t like to cook, becoming a chef isn’t the best career choice for you. Appreciating the different mixtures and taste possibilities is essential for being a successful chef.

Possess the determination that you’ll need to endure years of classes, training and apprenticeships. Learning how to become a chef doesn’t happen overnight because of the many things that go into learning the skills needed.

Take classes. Many community colleges offer an entire program in the culinary arts. Programs generally last for a couple years, but you’ll also need to get certified and get involved in an apprenticeship program before you can become a chef. An apprenticeship program gives you real-life experience so you can learn how to interact with others in a kitchen and learn about other things that happen while cooking in a real setting.
