What should I do to coordinate a Moroccan inspired bedroom?

I've been researching on-line for about a month now on how to design a Moroccan inspired bedroom. I have already visited some local shops and gathered pictures from on-line, but I don't know where to start! Of course, the wall paint, but I don't want anything too dark to make it appear smaller. All the Moroccan colors are so strong and rich. My head is everywhere. Could someone please help with some ideas?

  1. Don't be afraid of the rich colors.  If you have proper lighting in the space, the room shouldn't appear smaller ... it should appear cozy, warm, and inviting.

The wall is just the backdrop for the rest of the room.  With a Moroccan-inspired space, there will be plenty of color, fabric, and accessories to enhance the look.  In the end, you won't really 'see' the wall color; you'll just see (and feel) a magnificent, creative space.

Try painting the wall behind your bed a rich, dark color for starters.  If you're so inspired, paint the ceiling the same color.  You now have a canopy of rich color from which you can build the remainder of the room.

Tip:  go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy an "up light."  They're only about $10.  (Buy 2 or 3, if you can).  Place them in corners, in front of drapery panels, below floor plants, etc.  You get extra lighting, dramatic shadows, and an unbeatable look!

    Have fun ~
