  1. How big is the class? Is it popular or required ( general ed/major course) ANd what number are you on the waitlist? I would say your chances of getting in depends on alot of factors BUT if you reallly want the class most of the time you can get in.

    1. Check in with the waitlist file starting the first day of classes and everyday after that if you're still not confirmed.

    2. Show up on the first day of class. Talk to your professor and let him/her know you're on the waitlist. They'll tell you what you have to do ( i.e, wait a few days, shoot them an email)

    3. A few things can happen after this. Some professors can go into the system and force add you into their class.  Students may drop out after the first few days, moving you up the waitlist or even openning a spot for you in the class.

It's important to be there the first day so you can assess the professor,  your classmates and the syllabus. You can make alot of decisions about if the class is worth waiting for or not by making some observations. If you saw some empty chairs or the syllabus appears daunting, students will drop out and others will hesitate to stay on the waitlist.

Keep in mind that people don't actually count the actual numbers of chairs when they finalize course seat availabilty. It's an estimate and rooms are usually not assigned until later.

    good luck in your semester!
