I'm 14 years old and recently started playing tennis. My opponents so far have been my dad and some of the neighborhood kids. I wouldn't say I'm bad, but I'm certainly not ready for a tennis team. People told me to get a coach or take classes, but my parents aren't ready to invest in tennis.

My school has a JV and a varsity tennis team; i am hopeing to make JV. In order to make JV tennis, what do you think the requirements are? I want to work on tennis during the summer and hopefully be ready for the season.

  1. practice, practice, practice, practice,  practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice,

  2. Find a wall.  Its the cheapest way to hit a LOT of balls.  And to get better you are going to need to hit a lot of balls.  Also, buy a ball hopper, get a bunch of balls, and practice your serve whenever you get a chance.  Private lessons may be expensive, but there are usually junior clinics that are cheaper.  Maybe you can make a deal with your parents, and do extra chores.  Or maybe you can ask them for a loan.  Prove to them, that this is what you really want to do.   Its tough being a kid, but hang in there.  Be persistent, work hard, and good things will happen. Good luck!

  3. my friend made the JV team & she had no priv lessons. she did giv a lot of effort & that made up for her strange groundstroke. if u dont hav the best groundstroke, i would suggest practicing a LOT & giv ur best effort. find other ppl to play with, too. itll help tons. but they cant be horribl

  4. I WOULD suggest u practice your severs because most kids who play on a JV team dont have a great serve and u might impress the coach
