I own a 4 Door 94 Civic LX. i cant decide exactly what i want to do. i am not going to spend money on ricing it out though. although i DID buy Blue LED underglow for it just because i like flashy lights =]. anyway the question is... should i do an engine & tranny swap to a B16a engine and tranny? or should i just save up and buy a manual car. (keep in mind i currently have an automatic so it will swap that too) also i will not be doing it myself and the parts will cost $2300

  1. Hmmm...

I say buy the B16A do the conversion. If anything you could also fix little things here & there along the way.

  2. How about removing those flashy blue LEDs  you bought. Then do a K20 motor swap instead of a B16. Yes it will have to converted to manual transmission, but its better. But it will cost a lot more than $2300. But you will be happy with the results. If you leave the rest of the car like it is, and do that k20 swap, you will have a true SLEEPER!

    Good Luck.

  3. if your car is not currently stick it will cost you more than the car is worth to change it out, parts and labor alone are more for the swap than the car is worth blue book.... no matter how much you like the car....save up buy what you want.... people always spend way too much fixing up cars you can pick up a car that tricked out just the way you like for a fraction of the cost of actually doing the work....

  4. DeeJay is wrong, you can easily find a manual tranny conversion for roughly 200-300 dollars (not including tranny)- certainly not the cost of buying a new car. I have friends that have done it on their cars without ever having done it before. I suggest you register an account at honda-tech.com. Theres a lot of good info on that site as well as write-ups of other people that have done the same job.

As far as the swap goes, I would recommend at least a B18B1 (integra LS) or a B18C1 (Integra GSR) but it really boils down to what YOU want to do to YOUR car.

Oh, I should also mention that there is no actual "conversion kit." Rather, you will have to find all of the parts. On a lot of sites like honda-tech.com you will be able to find individuals that already have all of the parts. (Usually for 200-300).
