Question:

What should I do while in Chicago?

I am taking my boyfriend to Chicago for a couple of days. I have only been there once so I don't really know what there is to do.

He is 20, and neither are big drinkers, so not really interested in the bar scene. Really just looking for unique, quirky, interesting things to.

Good vegetarian restaurant would be awesome.

Thanks!

  1. The Sears Tower Skydeck is nice (don't plan your whole trip around that, though).

And try to stay away from the south side. That is, south of McCormick Place (31st St).

  2. go to a cubs game at wrigley field

  3. Cubs tickets or any other tickets to a Chicago sports teams (like the Bears, Wolves, White Sox, Blackhawks) are mostly sold out during the season when they're playing (I checked myself just now). You have to either buy them a few months before the season starts when tickets are on sale or you can buy them from an authorized scalper/broker which are supposed to be more expensive. As for what to do in Chicago and its suburbs, check out these websites for clubs, restaurants, and other activities:

  4. There are a lot of sights to see in Chicago. Some popular ones are:

Double Decker Bus Sight Seeing Tours on Michigan Avenue

Chicago River Boat Tours of Historic Architecture and City History

Shopping on Michigan Avenue - Many brand name flagship stores are located here.

The Art Institute of Chicago - this could take all day, there are many galleries to see and many famous works of art.

Millennium Park - Just a walk around, this doesn't take long

SkyDeck on the Sears Tower or the Restaurant on the 96th floor of the John Hancock tower.

Eating deep dish pizza at one of the many great Pizza restaurants like Giordano's, Pizzaria Uno or Lou Malinati's.

Going to see a comedy show at Second City theater in Old Town or IO Theater in Wrigleyville.

The Cubs baseball park also gives tours of Wrigley Field.

As far as veggie restaurants, I did not know of any off hand so I found some listed on Google Maps: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF...

  5. Definitly go to the museums. and the art institute. Millenium park is a cool place for couples too. So much to do here.

  6. The Art Muesuem in Chitown is amazing. Navy Pier is fun.  If you have time, take a trip to Oak Parke to see Frank Lloyd Wright's home.  It is just amazing!

  7. You would definitely like Lake Side Cafe, a vegetarian restaurant which also offers yoga and meditation, and is located at a "quirky, interesting" part of town.

There are many other vegetarian restaurants in Chicago; at least 70 are listed on VegDining.com.  Here's the link, see for yourself:

Good luck, and enjoy your trip!
