What should I do with Travis Henry?

I'm in a dynasty league and I'm the unlucky punk with travis henry. He was my third RB behind AP and McGahee. I also have Fargas, Tatum Bell, Deangelo Williams, Mendenhall, Micheal Bush, and Ryan Torain (I like RBs). What should I do with Henry? should I wait to see if he signs somewhere or try to trade him immediately to get Ray Rice or Kevin Smith to Handcuff my starters. Thanks

  1. A couple of thoughts... I'm a Denver fan and have some perspective on Bell and Henry.

I have a hard time believing that Travis Henry will be out of football.

Yes, he has character issues, but a team is bound to take a flyer on him in the wake of the inevitable preseason injuries.

As painful as it might be, I think you have to wait.

As for Tatum Bell, he was out of shape for the OTAs, and he is by no means the guaranteed starter.  He's not durable, is not a pile-mover, and has fumblitis.  If he couldn't succeed in Denver, that's saying something.  He could be great, or a total flop.

I would be inclined to keep Henry (risky, but he's a proven commodity), and move to get Kevin Smith.

Michael Bush is buried deep on a depth chart, and with McFadden getting all that money, I think you can afford to jettison Bush.

By the way, Ryan Torian could be a beast.  If Selvin Young can't cut it, you have the keys to a Ferrari.

EDIT: Detroit is interested in signing Najeh Davenport.  That doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement for Bell.

  2. If you can get anything for him I'd count your blessings.  I just went through a Yahoo fantasy draft where he went completely undrafted.  Guys like Kevin Smith and Ray Rice were long gone.  Heck even Kevin Jones (free agent from Lions) was drafted.

If you can trade him for Kevin Smith you need to do it before the owner wakes up.

  3. I would either keep him or drop him.  I doubt you will be able to trade him, unless the person you are trading with is stupid.  If you have the roster space to hold on to him, then keep him and wait and see where he ends up.

  4. If Henry doesn't get picked up soon, anywhere he does sign will use him as a back up.

He he gets signed in the next couple weeks, he will be able to learn an offense and compete for a starting job.

Unfortunately, my guess is he won't be signed until training camp and someone's RB gets hurt and they need someone fast.

I would dump him, it's a gamble to hold on to him.

  5. I would get rid of bell and imediatly pick up Kevin Smith. Tatum Bell is no longer a starter so he is unlikely to get even 700 yards this season. Kevin Smith however is a starter to a team that has a big question mark at QB right now, which means they will be handing it off to him quite a few times more then they did last year. So the verdict is drop drop Tatum Bell keep Travis Henry and pick up Kevin Smith.
