I am a lawyer. I used to to work for a firm. I loved the work there, but pay was quite low so I looked for a better pay. I got in a mortgage company which now pays me double my salary in the firm. However, I hate my work in the mortgage company. I have a wife and a baby to support. What should I do??? go back to the firm, and do the work I love, or continue with the high paying job that I despise?

  1. Decide what is most important to you. Look at your core values and make all your decisions based on them. Once you have a clear understanding of what you want and need, the decision will become clear to you. A job is just a job unless it is your life. Family is an extension of your heart unless they are not. Only you can decide what your core values are and move forward from that.

  2. try to find a position with a firm that will pay you what you want in salary.  anther law firm.  you have experience now that is worth something.  if you are in good standing with your old firm go back and see if they will increase they salary you received before. \

think about opening your own law office.

    good luck

  3. Do the work that you love.  I'm sure, as an attorney, you made enough to support your family.

If you continue in the job you despise, you will be miserable and it will affect your family life.

  4. I would stick with the dreaded job for about two years and put EVERY single dime that would be over and above what you'd be paid at the job you like (but wasn't paid enough) in the bank.  After two years I'd go back to the underpaid but loveable job and smile knowing that there is money in the bank :)

Continue to live within the means of the first job but benifit from the profit from the bum Bum BUM hated job.

  5. Do the you job you love. Even though you may not make as much money, it's better waking up in the morning and knowing you're going to have a good time at work then to wake up and be all glum going to work.
