Question:

What should I do with my fingering-weight yarn?

I have some white fingering-weight yarn that I would like to use up.

It seems like most people use that weight for socks, but I'm not very fond of making socks.

I am an intermediate knitter and a beginner crocheter.

Does anyone have any suggestions for my fingering yarn?

Or perhaps does anyone have links to sites that organize their patterns by yarn weight? I've been trying to find one but have been unsuccessful.

Thanks in advance all!

  1. ravelry.com has a TON of patterns (free and payable). The only thing is that you have to sign up to view the website (but believe me, totally worth it). I haven't figured out how they arrange their patterns, but I'm sure you'd get a lot of results if you searched "fingering weight" in their pattern section.

  2. Look for patterns in knitting and crochet in baby yarn or sport yarn.  That is yarn that should be 3 ply.  There are a lot of sweaters that are made of the sport yarn.  The reason I mentioned the baby yarn is because you may want to use it for  a gift.  Contact me if I can help any further.
