What should I do with my old 2nd generation I-Pod?

It has worked faithfully for two years and I'm pretty sure the battery finally gave out. It will still look like it is charging but doesn't hold a charge. Apple will replace the battery for $80.00 but I didn't want to wait three weeks and for $120.00 more I have a new one 3rd generation. I have no need to keep the old one, should I just chuck it or is there a recycle place for things like that?

  1. Since there's nothing that can be done, just recycle it. That's what I did with mine not too long ago.
