Question:

What should I do with my summer?

My mom signed me up for summer school. She is making me take Driver's Education and Health 10. I wanted to take both PE 10 and Health 10, but my mom wanted to get Driver's Aid out of the way. I couldn't take PE 10 and now I have to take it during the school year! What's even worse is that I have to stay around the house almost all summer. I can't even go enjoy the summer, like most kids, because of gas prices. Doesn't that get you mad about staying around the house and everyone else are going to the beach or to the amusement park? What can I do with my summer without it being a totally waste? I even have to listen to my sister!

  2. Get a pet. :]

Ride your bike to the library. Surf the internet. Go outside.

  3. Go on the computer, watch tv, listen to music, or play video games.

  4. Listen to your sister?. Aaaaaaaahhhhhh! Outrageous!

They didn`t have PE in summer school when I was growing up. That would be sweet. Sorry it didn`t work out. But driver`s ed can wreak havoc on your schedule and having a lame class like health out of the way will be good too. Maybe you can take PE 11 next summer etc. and then PE 12 and not have ANY PE senior year? That would be sweet right?

Ahem. Okay. Read. Seriously. There are some wicked good books out there. My daughter has found reading (so far the Stephenie Meyer series and Summerland by Michael Chabon) a great way to tune out her brothers.

Get this book. Find out what mission you might take on to change the world. Surely your parents will let you get around for changing the world! Is there a bus in your town? Maybe you can get a bus pass to go to the library (some libraries have teen programs for video games and other fun stuff along with books and it is mostly free.

Take walks around the neighborhood. Map yourself a route on MapQuest to go on an urban hike to places within walking distance that you have not seen before.

    Draw.

Plan how you want to remodel your room -- print out pics from online sites of things you want and resolve to find them at an affordable price.

Google  found object art -- see if your mom will get you some decoupage glue and good scissors and make found object art. I say this on a sincere level but it is also a way to be devious. Make your mom enough art for her room and she might get you to the beach a bit more often. ;-)

That is what I have for now. Email me through the site if you need more help.
