I was issued a speeding ticket plead not guilty and got it lowered to a parking ticket. I was told to pay $140 by Aug. 27 or show up to court on the 27th with $... I did neither however I did take the driving school they wanted me too.... The reason why I didnt is because Ive been feeling so crappy since having my daughter Aug 15th.... Will they push my ticket back to a speeding violation? Add fines or What? I know I probably have a bench warrant out now... but I dont know what to expect I would like to before I mail payment or call

I was in buffalo ny

  1. Well if it was lowered to a parking ticket why would you have to go to court? If you miss a court appointment for a violation you will have a warrant out... Good luck.

  2. failure to appear will automatically issue a bench warrant. If you go to the police station, you will probably be arrested. However, if you contact the police usually if you pay your fine, they are happy (they just want the money). Getting a lawyer could help you if you want to make sure you dont get arrested.

  3. There are different laws in different states (depending on which one your in) in Maryland not paying a traffic ticket does not get a warrant issued for your arrest, your driver's license however will be suspended till you take care of the ticket. Just simply go into your near motor vehicle administration and pay the ticket.

  4. if u didnt go then there should be a warrent out for your arrest   sorry!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Bench Warrant will be issued, Drivers Licenses will be revoked and a deputy could come and knock on your door and take you to jail. Only the first two are most likely. Most like they will wait on you to s***w up again and arrest then.

  6. You're not going to know for sure, until you call them.  I know you're nervous, but you have got to pick up the phone and call.  Ask if you can reschedule your court date and get an extension on your fine.  Explain to them what you've explained here.  At least you went to the school, so that's in your favor.

Don't keep putting it off.  You don't want a warrant issued (it may already be out).  Getting arrested will be worse.  It will be much more traumatic and you may have to got to jail, post bail and get an attorney.

As you now know, you should have taken care of this ontime, or at least called them when you didn't show. Generally, they're not going to come after you on a traffic warrant right away.  They're too busy with warrants for serious crimes.

So please - get off the computer, pick up the phone and call.  Believe me, you're not the first person this has happened to. They'll know what to do when you call them.  The earlier you call, the better for you.  Good luck!!!

  7. Yes, you probably ahve a warrnt and it will go back to the original violation. Your license is probably also suspended. Get caught driving and that will be another charge. The courts do not care "why", unless it was life threatening. They'll just say that you should have called. Your fine will be much bigger too. You should have just taken care of it.

  8. All states have different rules. In general, an unpaid ticket results in a warrant or, in notification to the DMV, which will not renew your license until the matter is resolved. This latter course can take months to clear up.

  9. You will probably be getting some hate mail about having your license taken away. You really need to go ahead and deal with this before it gets worse.
