  1. Tennis team try outs. Well I'm sure every school is different, but the coach at my highschool made us:

    run laps on the track

    foot work drills on court

forehand, back hand, service, and overhead lob or smash drills

Hitting with a partner and practicing these moves

    Playing matches.

If you have never had tennis lessons, I would recommend it. Maybe just a couple to get the basics down. They are expensive, but they will be worth it come tryout time.  If not, maybe look for a tennis camp from a local school or University. You will also learn the fundamentals here.

    Good luck!

  2. Do you take lessons from a good player? If not find a good coach in your area to give you lessons, that should help a lot. If you get really into tennis you should try a pro coach, they cost a lot but they usually give very good instruction.

Yes tournaments are good too. I do USTA tournaments and sometimes you get up against really good people and it is good experience. My tennis team doesnt care that much and I dont get as good play as I do in tournaments.

Also don't let people older than you intemadate you.  You can beat them if you get good enough. I'm proof, and if they get mad ignore them.  They got to except the fact. Don't get made if a younger person beats you either. I got creamed by a 10 year old when i was 13.

  3. i do agree with robert b that tennis is something u really need 2 work at.

but in my area school tennis doesn't have very high caliber players. Sure you will have a great player every now and then but the really good players are the ones that play in usta tournaments and they usually dont play school tennis. So i think u should go for it, tennis is a great sport that u can play 4 a lifetime.

  4. dont take this personaly but you probably wouldnt make it.... a lot of middle schoolers are really good....i ve been playing for five years and im really good but i can still get beat by some middle schoolers

  5. ok well  b4 my 8th grade tryouts ive only been playing for 2 months and i dint make it even though i KNEW that i was better than other people and they only made it cuz they were on the team in 7th grade but i didnt quit so i kept on playing and went to a texas state tournament and i just made the high school team and im number 4 on a high school team that hasnt lost a match in about 20 years

so if u dont make it dont give up

about 20 people tryout and 10 make it

they just make u serve do backhands and forehnads and if ur on the borderline they make u play with other people

  6. im sorry but tennis is just one of those things you need to work your *** off in but if you really think you can do good just be prepared eat good in the morning and get some sleep
