What should I expect from a Barium e***a?

It is on Friday and I can't eat any food starting tomorrow. Has anyone had one and how bad is it really? Will I feel normal right after it's over? Does it hurt? How can I hold it in? I am worried it will be too hard

I was quite young when I had one. I had it done at the hospital, they did an x-ray right after, and by the time they were done I was sprinting to the bathroom. They try to do the x-ray and everything very quickly because they know what effect it's going to have on you. It's not comfortable but doesn't hurt and you'll feel completely normal afterwards - just very cleaned out. ;o)
