I went to the ortho surgeon today and I get my wisdom teeth out on August 19. I am so afraid and I don't know what to expect. Has anyone ever had there wisdom teeth out and what can you tell me about your experience?

  1. I just had this done last week and I was terrified. But really there isn't much to worry about. If your getting more than 2 out I would opt to be knocked out for it. You just go in, they knock you out with the anesthesia/IV and you wake up with a mouth full of gauze and numbness. Buy a lot of soft foods (jello, pudding, ice cream, mashed potatoes) because you probably won't be able to eat anything solid for 4 day to a week.

  2. You lose yur wisdom, you'll have to study harder.

  3. I had mine out when I was 16. I also had a cyst removed from my sinuses so I had some extra pain. In all though, seriously it was cake. No problem. I'd say that the cleaning afterward and the stupid dissolvable sutures are the biggest pain. (not actual pain pain). You'll be fine. Your jaw may be sore from being open for a while and you'll more than likely lose a few lbs. from not being able to eat solid foods for a few days... You will be fine though. No worries!

  4. Yes, I have had my wisdom teeth pulled out. when you go to the dentist's office, they will have you bite down on this one machine that will x-ray your teeth to determine where to pull. They will numb your mouth with some nova cane. You will feel pressure and hear a cracking noise from the tooth being pulled out. you will feel blood but  you can't see it. they will stitch your gums with a dissolvable thread. You will be put on a liquid diet for a few days. You can't brush or teeth or use mouth wash because it will burn. I would recommend salt water.
