I need advice on what to do while in cosmetology school and what to expect? Some people say there is a high burn out rate why is that? Anything you can tell me about cosmetology school would be great thanks.

  1. It's fun, don't take it too seriously or you'll stress yourself out.  Realize it JUST teaches you the basics.  The rest will come after you start working.  I HIGHLY recommend learning clipper cuts, which they did not teach when I was in school, but is vitally important.   Other than that they pretty much cover just what you need to pass the test.  Good luck to ya!

Oh yeah, if it's your "calling", you won't get burned out!

  2. I'm currently attending cosmetology school and I'd just tell you, before anything, make sure this is what you want to do. I have seen six people drop out because it's not what they thought, and that's a lot of money to waste (it's about 10 grand here). I think people think its a lot easier than it is. You should expect a lot of fun. I love it, personally. I'm making great friends and having the time of my life. It's not really difficult in my opinion, but it can get a little stressful. I mean hair is... semi-final. If you s***w up, they're stuck with it until it grows out. So just pay attention so you know what you're doing, don't go unless you want to for sure, go with an open mind, expect new friends and fun.
