I live in the UK, having my braces off tomorrow, just wondering what things the orthodontist will do then?

  1. Its really nothing to worry about when I got mine off I didn't even notice they were doing it I thought they were doing something else. The worst part is hearing the crack when they pull them off the cement.

  2. it'll be like a regular check up at first when the orthodontist will take the metal wire braces off (the ones he tighten every checkup). after that he'll just start prying off the studs on the teeth. Its more irritating than painful. no worries. i didn't notice he was taking the studs off until he got to my rear molars haha.

  3. they'll take these plier like things and basically snap them off your teeth. it's not painful but it feels like someone is flicking you in the tooth. then they take a polisher and rub it on your teeth to get the brace cement off of them and to clean them. expect something akin to getting your teeth cleaned at the dentist's, and to have a gooey feeling in your mouth.

  4. - the dentist would remove the rubber or wire holding the brackets and long wire in place;

    - then the long wire would be removed;

    - then one by one he would snap the brackets off of your teeth (kinda unpleasant feeling);

    - then he would remove excess cement from you teeth (cleaning process);

    - then he would make another mold of your teeth, this time for your retainers;

    - then you would come back after a couple of days for the fitting of your retainers;

    then you are free of the curse of the braces (but if needed, mostly it is, retainers are after).
