What should I fill in "Designation of Assessing Officer (Ward / Circle)" column of the ITR-1 form ?

I am filing my tax return first time. How can I find Ward/Circle of Assessing Officer ?

The designation of assessing office of the ward/circle where u are submitting your IT returns. You can file ur returns anywhere in India. So you have to write the ward where you are submitting ur IT returns.

Designation of assessing officer, you leave it as it for official use based on the income of the individual. Ward/circle you have to check out based on your PAN number at the ITO and fill it.

You can get the required details on any of the following sites :

1) http://incometaxindia.gov.in/ao/Firstlev...

2) go to http://www.incometaxindia.gov.in and on the top left hand corner of the page, select your Field Office from the drag down menu. When the page gets loaded, on the top of the page, click on jurisdiction, follow instructions.

3) To know the jurisdiciton of the area from where you made your PAN card (jurisdiction can be either the area of your residence or area of your office), enter details on http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/know... and you get your jurisdiction details ! :)
