OK, well I had a hamster a couple years ago. It was my life. I kept asking my mom for another, but she said no. Then she said, "If I were to get anything, I'd get a guinea pig." So that's when I started on the guinea pig. I went to the pet store today, to look at them. They were absolutely ADORABLE! You are allowed to pet them, so I tried, and they just ran away. Like they aren't friendly at all. Then, the bunnies were not far. So I went over there and just fell in love with two of the bunnies. They were so happy and friendly! My mom would have got them, but they need to run, and we don't have our porch installed yet, so I have to wait. I'd let it run in the house, but I also have two 17-year-old cats and a 3-year-old shih tzu. So that obviously can't happen. The porch should soon be here. So now I'm in a delema. Guinea Pigs are still what I kind of want, but I have a feeling that the 2 bunnies might be another option. What's sweeter? Which is easier? I know nothing about either. Which?

  1. I have never had a guinea pig, but I have had rabbits through out my life. When I was younger, I had a boxer, 2 cats and a bunny.  They all got along perfectly fine, and one of the cats, and the rabbit were the best of friends, and were seriously together all the time.  Now I have a rabbit, and a cat. The rabbit, I got when she was 2, and she is not used to other animals, so when she sees the cat she kinda thumps her foot at the cat.  But they both just kind of leave each other alone.  The cool thing about my rabbit is, she is litter box trained, so letting her run around the house is no probem, and cleaning her cage is so easy.  I don't know if you can potty train a guinea pig.  The only problem I have is she likes to chew wires, so you have to put them where she can't get them.  Good luck :)

  2. You should get a guinea pig. They were scared because they didn't know you and it's like to them this hand is like a monster to them. But just put your hand in the cage and act calm.

  3. I currently have two guinea pigs of my own and they are the best. I would choose to get a guinea pig because they are nice, adorable, loving, and easy to take care of you. They ran away at the pet store because they have never seen you before, and they were just shy. Next time, put your hand over their head before you pet them to show that you aren't a threat. Then gently stroke their fur. Bunnies may look like an easy job, but they p**p way too much, and they smell bad. Guinea pigs p**p a lot too, but it doesn't smell as horribly as rabbits' though (not trying to be mean! :]). If you get a guinea pig, make sure to put fresh pellets in his/her food bowl and clean their cage every 2-3 days. NEVER use wood shavings or aspen as their bedding. This can cause respiratory problems. Also, put fresh cold water in their canteen everyday. Just so they can get used to you, hold them everyday in a towel or just in your bare hands for about 10-20 minutes. Don't hold him for the first 2 or 3 days because he's still trying to adjust to his new home. And if he's a little mean the first few days, it doesn't mean anything, he's just a little scared and he'll be a lot nicer when he's seen your face for a couple of days. I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to email me! :]

P.S. sorry this answer is so long :]

  4. I have a guinea pig, once they get to know you they are the sweetest little animals! They're lower maintenance than rabbits. Even though they were shy toward you, they are simply shy by nature but very social and outgoing. For both animals though you need a pair and adequate space. Make sure you read up more on both before you make a decision! (You can find many excellent books at your local library).

  5. i have two bunnies and 5 cats. the cats don't seem to bother the bunnies and the bunnies don't seem to be scared. in fact, they just sniff each other and carry on with their business.  so they can run around inside until you get your back yard set up.

  6. Bunnies because they are more able to be friend the other animals.

  7. guinea pig

it just didn't know you . trust me you would do the same thing if you were walking down the street and a stranger tried to pet you lol think about it

  8. It depends on your lifestyle and needs. By the way, either way I wouldn't recommend buying babies in pet stores. They're usually poorly cared for and in bad shape.

If you want a pet that's low maintenance and rather mellow, go for the guinea pig. They're kind of boring, but really love to sit in your lap and get pet. They don't even p**p on you if they like you, they'll alert you before hand.

Rabbits on the other hand, tend to be more playful and energetic, and also require more care and playing as a result. I haven't owned rabbits personally, only cared for them, but they can also be more easily trained to things like litter training from what I've heard.

I'd recommend doing some more research on your own, and list out the pros and cons of each. Both are generally fascinating animals, and are sure to make great pets.

  9. BUNNY!!!!!!

  10. i say a guinea pig because it was just scared because it doesnt know you and there great pets and bunnies are really messy but cute good luck with ur choice

  11. I say bunny they are much much quieter they dont squeal and i find them to be much more cuter and social my rabbit always comes up to me and rests his head under my foot, something a guinea pig would never do. Also i have my rabbit run in my room 24/7 with the cage open to hop in anytime, anyway i also have a pitbull and shes very friendly with the rabbit a shih-tzu is nothing to worry about, i dont know about the cats though.
