What should I get him for Christmas?

This is the time of year I start planning my budget for Christmas gifts for my family so I can be prepared and not run out of money. Well, I am having a dilemma. My fiance joined the Army and is leaving for boot camp December 30th. I want to get him something for Christmas but what? He will only get to enjoy it for a few days. He won't be back until May. What would you suggest I do? Also, his birthday is February 25th and he will be gone for that. Is there anything special I could do for him? Thanks in advance for your help!

Why not go to a photographer and get some pictures of you taken? Then you could put them in a little book that he can take it with him. Some nice stationary,writing utensils and some stamps so you guys can keep in contact? Does he have a cell phone and can he take it will him to bootcamp? If he doesn't have one and he can take one why not get him a TracFone? The cheapest is $9 to the highest one is in the 80 dollar range. Then you could by him some phone cards to take with him so you guys are always in contact. For his birthday have a special dinner for just the two of you.

1) picture frames with your pics, OR 2) ipod preloaded with music, and a solar charger for the ipod (since he may not be able to find outlets at all times). OR 3) motivational books OR 4) promise ring (a promise to come back).  Those are few ideas to start from.
