Question:

What should I include in my first letter to my sponsored child in Sierra Leone?

We just recently started sponsoring a 7 year old in Sierra Leone through the CCF. I was told that I should include something flat with my first letter but not anything of value. I don't have children, so I'm not sure what a 7 year old would like. Should I put stickers or maybe paper dolls?

Any helpful information would be appreciated.

  1. Stickers and a photo of you would be great...

  2. First of all congratulations for a good deed!!!

I think you should try something really colorful as the child is just seven, write about yourself ,try to tell him/her if you would come there to see them(do this only if you intend to)yeah include those paper dolls ,draw up something ,basically a scene from your own daily life nothing much elaborate but a sketch will do.

  3. Like the first person said(can't remember who wrote it sorry!), congrats! And also the idea of colorful stuff is a good idea. Maybe include a picture of yourself with a friend or pet, something "home-y" and sweet. Stickers and paperdolls are sweet too. Honestly, they'll appreciate anything! It makes their day! Really. How many other kids do you think get letters from someone who really cares about them? It's very exciting for them, and chances are they'll show all their friends.

In the letter just be honest, tell them a little bit about yourself, and say how glad you are to be sponsoring  them.
