Don't take any pictures of children while you are there. The DR is a known "s*x Tourist" destination. Considering the TSA has decided they can steal your laptop, phone, camera, SC cards, thumb drives, and anything you can keep digital information on, I would not take any of them. If you take a camera, mail the SD card home before you leave, or upload the images to Flickr while you are there. Good luck getting back into the US, going through the "Constitution free" zone at the boarder.

They are not known for their cuisine...you will tire of it easily....rice, beans and a meat, that's it...oh and plantains in every imaginable format: boiled, fried, mashed, etc.... unless you stay in a resort, in which case they will have much more variety for you.
