What should I know about the Amazon unbox service?

I've got a couple questions about amzons unbox srvice

1. if I download a video can I movie it to dvd.

2. what do I need to rubn the service

3. how much does it cost.

4. whatever else you can tell me.

  1. 1) No, not that can be played on a DVD player anyway.

    2) A Windows PC or Tivo Box (No Macs!)

    3) It varies, as little as $1.99 for some videos (like TV episodes). $3.99 seems to be the most common for movie rentals (which expire and refuse to play after a few days), and $9.99 - $14.99 is a common range for movies for purchase.

    4) It has way to much DRM! This means that playback is restricted to certain video devices. You can only use the videos on 2 computers or Tivo's, and two portable media players (no iPods, either).

    Also, be aware that a lot of the videos are rentals, which means that the files will refuse to play after a specified period of time.
