  1. its nothing like they show in the movies...

  2. Be sure you are prepared to work hard. Read lots this summer, especially from reading lists with recommended books for 9th and 10th graders. Your library should be able to help you find these books.

Also, be sure you know all of your basic match facts and operations very well. That will make high school math much easier. Also, read the newspaper and/or news magazines to keep up on current events.

I'm sure you'll do well because you care enough to ask the question here.

  3. I was a fish last year. don't worry it is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Its AWESOME! So much better than Middle School. You will get picked on for being a freshman though. Just be confident and don't got out with seniors! =]

  4. i'm gonna be a freshman too!

    :)

im scared too, so dont worry. well, go in there with the right attitude, and you'll be making friends.

middle school is a totally different thing than highschool, your more self dependant, which is awesome.

and which is why i cant wait.

    hope i helped!

    :)

  5. It's almost the same as middle school, with more people. And for the most part, you're aloud to do more things.

  6. join a sport

or be a loner of sort

  7. dont act like your the ****. cuz ur not. lol i mean like, to everyone in high school ur jus alil kid,..no knowledge no experience. thats how theyll see you..theres nothing more annoying than a lil kid walking around thinking they own the place.. u are on the bottom of the food chain point blank.. you will earn your way to the top eventually.. jus dont try too hard, and be carefull about what older guy you might be flirting with or what older gurl your talking **** about...People wiiilll get on you especially since ur young and havent been around long

  8. be good... study hard... be on the good side of ur teachers... make and meet good friends...try and think about ur future early or at least have an idea what u want to do... and again, don't follow the wrong people; being "bad" once in a while is fine, sometimes u need it, but make sure u know what ur doing and don't get influenced by the wrong people...Be urself and don't be afraid to ask for help...

    GOOD LUCK!

  9. well wat ever u see in the movies about high schoo yea thats not true..

  10. i def got advice; DONT GET INVOLVED IN DRAMA; one lil mistake will ruin your 4 years; do not talk about ppl and if u see your friends are dont get involved in dere convos.

  11. im a senior so i hope this helps.

    1) Dont be afraid to ask for help.  not everyone is mean, most upperclassmen will gladly help you.

    2) dont try to act certain ways to make friends, be yourself.

    3) dont try to be 'popular' its notall that it seems

    4) get involved!  try to join a club or sport, high school will go by so fast.

    5) try not to fail a class, new requierments are really tough and there is no room for error

    6) enjoy every moment of it!

i hope this helps you.  :)

  12. keeep your mouth ****, 9th grade year was my toughtest, so many distractions and for all that i failed. KEEP YOUR MINE ON SCHOOL!!!! boys are much older and crazier. theres to much drama to handle. just stay out of peoples way, and away from the drama!

  13. it's like middle school

but with more people and more homework

    don't stress it too much

  14. their's nothin realy to it......jus listen to ya teachers..........pay no mind to them male whores in the higher grades. and even if u're afraid of something never let it show.... IMAG3 IS 3V3RYTHING. wish you the best.

  15. You will be fine.   Listen to the teachers, take notes, and do your homework.

  16. Im going to be a Freshmen too. Im kinda nervous but i keep on thinking how fun and great high school will be. I read most of the answers here and they were great. Just think back the 4 years ( 4th grade ) , dont remember huh? Well thats how high school going to be, its going to pass really fast. Just be yourself and make lots of friends, be nice, join clubs and if someone is trying to make you mad or something just dont show fear be brave and walk away. Lets make these high school years the best of our life ( haha ). Best of luck to both of us =)

  17. It's not that big of a deal, even though it seems like it at the time.

Your not at grown as you think are...don't try to grow up too fast, seriously, you have the rest of your life to be an adult. Just have fun, enjoy the coming of age experience.

Don't fall into peer pressure too much. Don't let any boys take advantage of you. It's OK to experiment with things, try new things, go to parties and such..but don't let it get the best of you. Stay in school, it's not THAT bad it's only 4 years. Having to work and pay bills sucks...oh and high school never really ends either. Heh.

Yeah just enjoy it. I remember when people would tell me to enjoy it cause it's going to be some of the best years of your life. Well, I wouldn't say high school was the best. But, I'll never be 14 again..thing's wont be as new and as exciting as they were then.

I wish I would've enjoyed high school a little more. I wouldn't want to do it all over again though. In 5 years your entire outlook on life changes, your like a totally different person. You'll look back at high school and just laugh.

Don't smoke..I really regret having started smoking. If you smoke anything, smoke weed. Don't go overboard though! I was a pot head/slacker..it's stupid. I can't stand those types of people now. I hardly ever smoke weed.

Wait a few years to drink, 14 and 15 year olds just can't handle drinking, they don't know their limits or anything and wind up doing really stupid ****. There's nothing more annoying then a drunk 15 year olds running around telling the world how drunk are. Stay away from hard drugs.

Keep your V-card as long as possible. Or at least lose it to someone respectable..not to someone that just "seems" nice or whatever. Crazy hormonal teen boys will say just about anything to get in your pants. ALWAYS use protection.

  18. High School is just like middle school, Except you're now a Young Adult, And you have more work to do and people around you.

Try to be outgoing and open to new things (bow chika wow wow?)

    :)

But People are going to be a little judgmental towards you a little more compared to middle school. But just ignore that and be yourself.\

    You'll be fine.

    Good Luck!.... Freshmeat.

    :P

  19. hmm wow alot. don't be surprised if ur friends arean't the same during the year. be careful who u trust lots of drama!! best thing to do is stay focused on ur work don't get involved in drama stay in good graces with evryone. and enjoy every minute of it cus once it's gone goodbye and more freedom and if ur lucky great teachers and new people to meet!! luck

  20. Just smile and be outgoing...

  21. Don't act like you did in middle school. You will be shoved in lockers for being annoying and immature.

To try to shake the freshman stereotypes people put on you. You aren't going to change their minds.

  22. I'm gonna be a freshmen also, and I am nervous too but just be nice to evreyone and you will make friends!

  23. tips:

    1) always smile- smiling shows you're friendly and you're open to people for conversation. smile at people and teachers.

    2) dress to impress- don't change your style for the first day of school or throughout the year. wear something a little nicer for the first day, but that's it.

    3) have good posture- don't walk in a room slouched over. sit up straight in your seat and walk standing upright.

    4) have confidence- if you get the chance to stand up and talk about yourself the first day in a room, do it right. get up and smile and look people in the eyes, even if you don't know them. it will show you're friendly. you could practice this at home before you start school.

    5) smell nice- spray a hint of a nice perfume/cologne on yourself before each class. =)

    6) act comfortable, even if you're not- this one's hard, but you have to do it. don't go up and talk and keep saying "uh" and such.

    7) be kind- if you see someone who is lost or needs help, help them. that's how you make friends.

    8) be active in school- me and my locker partner became close because of fbla. i met so many upperclassmen and such being in a club. sports are also really good because you will find people with comon interest.

    9) go to orientation- if your school has an orientation, then go. mine did and i know it put my mind at ease that i was able to walk around the school and see where classes and places were before school started.

  24. that its time to have fun and enjoy yourself because when you pass the high school stage and are in college or university you wont have the time to have fun and goof off .

High school is a time to explore yourself and make friends and social connections. The workload isnt that hard, especially grade 9, 10 and 11, the last grade is probably the only one that is moderately tricky.

Important thing is to not stress out and enjoy yourself!

  25. I just graduated this July, and really, High School wasn't anything special. I guess just be nice to people. I'm sorry I really don't know what to tell you. Be organized!

  26. take advantage of the services your school offers. Learn Japanese or take on a club
