Question:

What should I look for in a remote coil?

I'm your average paintball player. I am only 15, so I don't get to play to often mainly because it's expensive. However I have obtained a harness and four pods from a friend for $5 (he didn't use it). It's not the best harness, but it fits the purpose. Anyways I'm exploring the option of wearing my CO2 on my back to give me more mobility. Obviously, this would only be occasionally like if I am playing woodsball or such. I would just like to have that option to say I can. What should I look for. Do I need a certain PSI rating, what brand do you recommend, and should I get on with QD and/or an on/valve?

  1. All remote coils should have a QD and on/off valve.  Also, they should all have the necessary PSI rating to handle CO2 or HPA. So basically, any should be sufficient.  I'd avoid the micro coils (thinner hose) and one's with slide checks as these are frequently stated as unreliable.  Best advice: be sure to turn off the ASA and bleed off the air before removing the QD.  Removing while still pressurized can damage the coil/o-rings.
