What should I look for when buying a digital camera?

I don't need anything extremely nice or expensive, I'm keeping it around 150 dollars max. I just need a camera to capture moments [parties, hanging out with friends, etc.]. What should I look for in a camera that will satisfy my needs for taking these kinds of pictures? I want the pictures to be nice and clear, I want the pictures to be taken quickly since a lot are taken at parties, and I want to be able to zoom in pretty closely. Advice?

i suggest getting AT LEAST a 7.0 megapixels. better is good.

try to stray away from sony cameras because when you decide to get a memory card, they only want you to buy one specific kind (sony pro duo worth $30 for 1gb).

if you buy another brand of camera, you can buy 2gb for $30 or maybe less?

when it comes to battery life, decide if you want the chargeable type or buying and changing the battery every now and then.

canon and nikon are pretty good brands.. sony is good too except for the whole memory card issue. stray away from polaroid and kodak.

5.1 MP is good enough to produce clear images. I recommend Olympus. Your budget of $150 is too low if it is in S$ as a simple digital camera costs about S$200 plus.

you should look for a camera which is compact, has a lot of megapixels (between 8 and 10 is great). When you buy your camera, also buy a large memory card so you can take hundreds of photos throughout the party without having to delete any. Canon and similar companies make good point and shoot cameras for reasonable prices (between 150 and 200 dollars)

Well just look for the highest megapixels offered for that price. The more megapixels the better the clarity and quality of the camera. Avoid Kodak and Polaraid cameras. . . Canon and Sony are great brands.

You should look for a camera with a memory 500MB a digital zoom about 5mega pixels and a screen about 1.5 - 2 inches
