  1. That's your first clue; a rebuilt engine. Why was it rebuilt? To add performance? Or because it was in such bad condition that it HAD to be rebuilt?

Look for chassis rust; to do this you must hire a mechanic to check the bottom of the car for you.

Looks for performance modifications; these modifications usually have a vestigial of a racing driver. If the car was used in racing, which is quite popular among RX7 owners, you should be prudent of its tires, paint, and the engine.

Look for interior destruction; if the carpet, glove box, etc. doesn't look/ work like it's supposed to, it tells a story of how the previous owner treated the car in general.

You should also carfax the car, or, make sure it hasn't been in any accidents, salvaged, flooded, etc.

  2. You need to make sure there are no oil or water leaks and no smoke on start up or running.  Also, what are the maintenance records.  And yes, the rotary motors are very expensive to repair.

  3. Check to see if the car had any accidents, like carfax.com

Second make sure the brakes, the wheel alignment and all that other stuff is good. And see if the car is good on gas too, because in the long run, it might end up costing a lot more.

  4. I'm another RX7 owner, and I looked at aaroncake.net when I first got mine. It mentions exactly what to look for when purchasing an FC. And if you do purchase the car, register on www.rx7club.com. They've got tons of information for new owners on about everything.

    Hope this helps!
