  1. Major is Special Education.

    Most Universities have that program.

It includes education planning, behavior modification, IP training.

I minored in Special Education in College...excellent program at San Jose State University and was an Autism Tutor for 5 years.

  2. aww me2 im doing that also

well at first your need to get all your pre resiquits (cant spell that word) which is early childhood..68 credits total which is a pain in the butt

then u go for your bach. in special ed.  which i believe is all special ed. i know when u work on your masters they have specific program im in new york so long island university ( cw post) has their own autism program..

wow im really excited for you not many people want to teach these guys and it stinks b/c they r alot of fun if you know how to deal with them...are you working with them yet as a teacher assistant? the best training is working hands on with them =)

    good luck!

  3. Speech and hearing Undergrad. Then in grad speech path. and you choose a school that has focus on autism.

That is what I am doing.

  4. psychology

  5. That is the exact same thing that I'm going for.  I'm on my way to my bachelor's degree.

My major is Special Education for Moderate to Intensive Special Needs

My minor is pyschology.  I figured this would be helpful in special education.

Also, since teachers have to get a Masters degree eventually.  I would look for a school that has a Masters in Autism Education (or something similar) or an autism certification.

    Good luck!

  6. you would have to get some kind of medical or psychiatry background.  talk to your counselor at school or at the college you are attending or planning to attend.  they can help you out a lot

  7. special ed.-need that degree to work with autistic children.

    perhaps even speech therapy!

good luck-i have to tell you that if you are going in to such a field, your work will be very rewarding!
