What should I major in in order to easily find a job in Ireland?

In four years my husband and I are moving to Ireland. he is an Irish citizen so we don't need to worry about working papers. I have two more years of school left and I'm stuck on what to major in. I know the economy in Ireland is great right now but I don't know much about the job market. It would be great if I could get some ideas on what fields are in need of people right now. Thank you!

Major in what you're good at and in what interests you. That's good advice whether you're going to Ireland or anywhere else.

There is a technology boom there now and they are in need of people in the medical field. However, go to school for a subject that interests you because you don't need to worry about EU citizenship.

The Irish insurance industry is an increasingly fertile hunting ground for the jobseeker.  Recruiters say there are plenty of jobs on offer in the sector, thanks to increased investment in life and pension policies and the emergence of new operators such as the Quinn Group.

Also, if you look at placement agencies, such as Grafton, they have many temp-perm jobs in accounting.  Many of these are entry level.

In addidtion, the Irish financial sector is getting more and more sophisticated. Credit derivatives is especially very big at the moment.

If you major in nursing, you can get a job ANYWHERE.  The healthcare industry is always booming.  

In sum, major in accounting, finance, economics, Information, Risk, & Operations Management (IROM), business, international business, or nursing.

You don't state your nationality but note that marriage to an Irish citizen does NOT guarantee that you will be admitted to the country.

You may have to get visa and work permit. At least you have plenty of time to sort this out.
