Have a birthday party at work tomorrow decided that we would do a little potluck celebration and I have to make the main dish and it needs to be portable in a crock pot to stay warm. Thoughts please? Normally really good at this but my brain is dead today.

  1. I had a similar dilemma last week for a birthday party.  I bought two beef briskets ( about 1 1/2 pounds each) and placed it in the crockpot with 1 bottle of chili sauce, 1/2 bottle of barbecue sauce, a 12 ounce bottle of water, lots of garlic powder and black pepper., and (2) sliced onions. Cooked it for about 10 hours on low and when finished, took the meat out and shredded the meat and placed it back in the crockpot. I served it with rolls for sandwiches. I offereda a choice of cooper sharp cheddar and  provolone cheese to add to the sandwich.  It went over very well and most everyone asked for the recipe.

  2. Chili is my favorite....  Bring some disposable containers with shredded cheese, cut-up tomatoes, sliced onions, fresh cilantro to sprinkle on top.   (I don't like chicken in a crockpot - it's too greasy)

  3. here's a fun, easy recipie you can ajustthe serving and calculate it it's easy!

  4. Sausage and peppers is my own old strandby.  Makes a lot and people love it.  Bring sub or hot dog rolls.   Maybe some sauce ont he side for those who have to have sauce on theirs.

  5. Stewed Chicken

  6. Chili! With some Fritos or something. Also, mini smoked sausages are good with a nice barbeque sauce.

Or, Rotel and cheese with some chips.

    Man am I getting hungry.....

  7. Chili is a great idea, and most people really like that.

I have another great idea. I recently made this for a party, and people went crazy for it.

Quickly pan-sear a 5 pound rump roast in a pan, then put that plus the following into the crock pot: 1 pkg Lipton's Onion soup mix, a finely sliced onion, and 2 bottles of good beer. Let it cook on high for about 5 hours, shred it with a fork (it will just fall apart) and serve on rolls. Oh, it's like great pot roast, and like I said, the people at our party went crazy for it.
