I'm planning for a business trip in a couple of weeks to Manila. Will be staying at Ayala Avenue and planning to saty for the weekend as well. What do u suggest I can do. I'll mostly be free in the evenings.

For your benefit... I'm 27 male.

  1. Try to go to Greenbelt Makati and try to observe which kind business establishment attracts best so you can compare it with your project in mind.  But then, I would suggest that you set up an eatery, resto or internet cafe with eatery and private karaoke section.  I am sure this kind of set up will click.

GOOD LUCK AND TAKE CARE :)

    GOD BLESS.

  2. Based on your location, you can only do several things:

    1. bar hopping within the area of makati

    2. spa hopping

    3. shopping inside the malls

Unfotunately if you want something historical, its not in Makati its in Manila, where there are museums, also a lot of night life, visit Intramuros, visit Luneta, those are the two areas which you do not want to miss.

  3. One week is really short as Manila is a big city with lots of interesting places to see and things to do.  Depends really on what your interests are.

If you like site-seeing, you can go on a "walking tour" of old Manila with Carlos Celdran.  You can google him.

If shopping is your thing, then go to Greenbelt (near your place) for that.  Most of the top brand named stores are there, you won't miss them.

If you're looking for bargains, then I suggest Greenhills Shopping Center (also called Virramall or V-mall).  This is in Greenhills in Ortigas Avenue which is about 45 mins from where you're staying.

You can also go on a road trip to Tagaytay or to the old Subic Naval Base.  Subic should be around 3 hours away, you can make arrangements with the hotel you're staying with.

You can also get on a boat to Corregidor, where the GIs and Filipino Military had their last stand against the Japanese in WWII.  The trips are every Sunday Morning near Manila Hotel about 10 mins away from your hotel on a Sunday Morning (you have to be at the docking port at 630am).

But some things you shouldn't miss are Balot (duck egg), Halo-Halo (a local dessert with ice cream) and San Miguel Beer.

If your looking for some "action" (as I think you're hinting at) then just cruise by Quezon Avenue in Quezon City, which is unofficially the Red Light District.

  4. i work at night and you are free as you say...let's do it!  P100 only.

  5. do away with the usual night life..you can experience those in whatever country you'd be visiting.

i suggest, take a trip to where the vendors and peddlers are. eat "isaw, balut, barbecue, fish ball" and those that you don't get to see and feel everyday.

  6. Go to EMBASSY  (the most "happening" club in Phil.)and have fun! Check out the magnificent malls in Makati and Quezon City (two of the malls here are among the bigest malls in the world!) Have a wonderful massage at Urban Spa. Try the gastronomic treats at Tomas Morato Ave. in Quezon City. Good luck and I hope you enjoy every minute of your stay.

  7. Staying at a hotel in Ayala Ave gives you a lot of option and convenience for most of your stay.

Greenbelt is the closest place and one of the more nicer place in the metro. You can also try going to Ortigas, Tomas Morato and the Trinoma area. There are quite a lot of bars, pubs, and restaurants in those area.

If you wish to have like a more serene getaway, you can go to Tagaytay. Its 1-2 hours away from Makati but the travel is worth it. You can see the view of Taal Lake and Volcano. And there are a lot of bars, restaurants, spas and cheap rooms in the area.

    Hope this helps.
