  1. You will need to take the TOEFL for any graduate program in the US since you will be applying as an international student.  You can find more details on this exam here:

    www.ets.org/toefl/

I believe there are four distinct sections; speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

For an MS (I'm assuming in engineering since you are a B.Tech candidate), you will need to take the GRE exam.  The GRE has three sections: quant (800 max), verbal (800 max), writing (6.0 max).  Usually, you'll want 700+ on the quant section, 500+ verbal, 5+ on writing for good programs.

You can get an MS in any scientific/analytical subject, which includes math, bio, any engineering, etc.

You can takes these exams in India (I assume you're from there, right?) at specific dates; a google search will give you complete information on exam dates/locations.

  2. Your best bet is to get in touch with the school where you want to do your graduate work.  They will be able to answer all your questions.  Good luck!
