  10. Try the beef with peppers and onions, it's pretty  much American.

  11. I'm guessing you are an American; here goes....

    General Tao's Chicken

    Crab Rangoon

    Spring Rolls

    Dim Sum

    Sweet & Sour Pork

    Chicken Chow Mein

    Egg Fried Rice...

...please note all above recommendations are by Y!A American answerers as observed by me over the months (I'm in the Far East where Chinese food is best enhoyed; I've no interest to go to the US). I think the American-Chinese restaurants can offer a 'fair representation' of Chinese food (actually Cantonese-style). Why? They're Chinese!!

  12. lol @ AQUALU.. 's answer, it is really not easy to find good Chinese food in western country (especially in northen Europe!).

The only advice I can give you is:

Try to hunt a Chinese restaurant where you find it is nearly full house (or always full house) and most of its customers are Chinese, then ask the wait staff for recommendations (tell him / her your preference so that they can find something you like!)

    P.S. to AQUALUN..

I guess American-Chinese food could never represent authentic Cantonese cuisine, because most ingredients for preparing Cantonese food are hard to find in places other than in Guang Dong area, I am trying to cook authentic Cantonese dishes here in Beijing for myself and I have hard time to do so, I need to bring along a lot of different sauces / spices / dried food from Hong Kong.

  13. It really depends on your taste. I always get General tso's chicken, which is boneless chicken with a red sauce on it, similar to sweet & sour. Where I go, it comes spicy so I ask either mild spice or no spice. Then white rice is always good. Plus wonton soup is more American tasting, to me.

  14. Most people like sweet and sour chicken, pork, shrimp or tofu of you are a vegetarian.  It's mild, and sweet with a few veggies thrown in for good measure.  Add some fried rice, egg roll, and some chow mein and you're set.  I like Chinese food, but love Japanese. However, if you go to a poor restaurant, all bets are off.  I've had horrible Chinese & Japanese food.

Good luck.  Let me know how you ended up liking it and what you had.
