What should I pack for Hawaii?

I'm going to Hawaii for two weeks in August, to the Island of Kuai. What types of clothing should I pack? About how much money do you think I'll need (not planning on getting tattoos, expensive jewelery, etc.)? What else should I bring?

Lots, and lots of money.

It is hot and humid that time of year.  You will probably spend a lot of time in water so swimsuit with cover up and SPF 30+ a must.  All the islands are very, very casual.  No fancy jewelry, no suit or ties or any fancy dresses.  Cotton or light muslin the best.  Evenings may get windy and a bit cool so a light sweater covered with a windbreaker for evening strolls.  Kauai is one of the more expensive places, but there are always bargains if you do a bit of Internet looking before you go.  Hope you love it!
