  1. Achorage is a wonderful city. The weather now can be quiet rainy. I would make sure to pack rain gear. I would also suggest to pack spring weather clothes. The weather can change quickly. I went to Anchorage twice on mission trips and we had very drastic results each time we went.  I would suggest to take a mix of clothes. T-shirts or short sleeve shirts and jeans or longer pants are a staple. I would also suggest a few pairs of Bermuda shorts or capris (if you wear them). It also wouldn't hurt to bring a pair of shorts in case of a warm day. If you will be taking any glacier cruises or wildlife tours take a warm jacket and even a pair of gloves. The closer you get to the glaciers the colder it gets. Take a good pair of tennis shoes too. There is so much to see in Anchorage and even off the beaten path in Alaska. If you have a day, I would suggest to rent a car and travel to Whittier. It is the coolest little town. It is right on Prince William Sound. Have fun! I also know a great place if you need travel toiletries (everything is pretty expensive in Alaska). www.ittybittytravelsupply.com

  2. Anchorage is a good sized city so you wont' need a lot of survival gear if you're going to stay there. Depending on what time of year you go you'll need to dress in layers. A rainjacket is always important because of the unpredictable weather. If you go hiking off the beaten path get good hiking boots.

    Have fun!
