What should I pack for a 5 day cruise in November to Cozumel?

We have never been on a cruise before and we really don't know what to pack. There's a formal dinner night that we don't want to go to because we're on vacation and the last thing we want to do on vacation is dress up or be around people who are dressed up. Is there an alternative dining option for us?

Whatever you do, pack everything you think you need, and take out half.  Cruises aren't known for their spacious cabins, so any space you can free up in your room is good!

This is a vacation. You are going on a cruise. You are suppose to do something you have never done before. Yes, you will need 'dress up' clothes. You need to experience that. There are other dining options but, you could have stayed at home and done that.  You have 9 months.

You are not required to attend the "formal" dinner in the dining room.  You can dine in any of the casual eateries that night.

However, that is usually the night they serve lobster and the wait staff does a singing show.  It is very enjoyable.  

As for the term "formal", it runs from cocktail dresses and tuxes to sun dresses and button down shirts.

What cruise line are you going on? Pack VACATION casual things & of course your swimsuits & a coverup. Check on your cruise ship details for dining options but there is always another "buffet" type which is very casual. Bring sunscreen & some hats, the beaches get pretty hot. Most important.ENJOY!!!

I just got back from a cruise to coszumel, it was so much fun. You don't have to go to the formal dinner, they have other resturant options. we never even went to the dinning room on our whole cruise. just pack lots of summer clothes because it gets hot, some sandles and sneakers. bring one or two pairs of pants, and a sweatshirt for the evenings. they have lots of shops on the cruise that sell just about everything you would need in case you forgot anything.

talk to your travel agent re the last dinner; and by all means pack beach wear...have fun...don't forget the sun screen.

Depending on your line and ship, there will more than likely be another option for you to choose. Most ships have some place else to that is of comparable quality. Room service is also an option, a lot of lines will offer a similar menu to what is offerred that night in the main dining room. The others may be a buffet/cafeteria style or something like hamburgers, pizza, fries, etc.

Again, the line is pretty important to determine this. Some lines are very strict with their clothing requirements. Most, however, will still allow you to dine as long as you don't have shorts or a bathing suit on. And, on the ships that offer this, you will see that a good majority of the people don't really dress up all that much. Unless you are on one of the ships that appeals a little more to older couples, most people don't follow the guidelines that strictly.

I have found that the night that is the most strict is if you have a captains dinner, they usually are very strict with these guidelines.

So what to pack. For regular nights at dinner I would at least pack some nice dress pants, dockers, etc. A nice button-up shirt, long sleeve looks the nicest and is the dresiest. For the ladies, the same type thing works, and dresses work as well.

For regular attire, shorts, jeans, polo shirts, t-shirts, etc. all work. Regular attire, on most ships, really isn't that important. Just regular beach/summer type clothing. There are some ships that do have an actual formal night, where you are supposed to wear formal clothes even outside of the restaurants, but this is very few ships. Some shows may also have a dress guideline, but this usually isn't strictly enforced on most ships.

Again, the best thing to do is look more into your actual line and ship, that is the way you get the most accurate information. You can also ask your travel agent or cruise line for specifics.

A cruise in November and you are asking for packing advice in February?  Strange to say the very least.

All the ships have a buffet dining selection or casual dining for the slugs who do not want to look presentable.

You can also eat in your cabin whenever you wish.  That way you do not have to be dressed at all.
