I mean anything in general, but also...

what do people wear in the fall and winter in terms of layers, etc? Are rain boots really important as well? What about snow?

  1. the fall is generally rainy and cool [starting in november] and the winter can get pretty cold sometimes [avg temp=50 deg. farenheit, but can get colder]; snow is rare. clothing wise, people just layer normally: jeans, long tshirts/regular tshirts, a thicker jacket, a scarf, and gloves. at night, more layers are obviously needed. as for rainboots, i've never seen anyone wear them.

  2. 1.  A must- Let's Go or Lonely Planet guide to Italy (or Europe).

    2.  American study abroad students love to party, and once you see what Italians wear out at night, you'll be encouraged to dress up.  So if you're a girl, take a pair of comfortable heels and a basic going out outfit.  You can buy accessories once you're there.

    3.  A bag that you'll want to take to class.  Most college-age Italians don't use backpacks (and if they do, they don't look anything like American backpacks).  I recommend a large purse or messenger bag.

    4.  Italian/English dictionary (though if you stay in Florence you probably won't need it)

    5.  Euros to hold you over until you can get to an ATM

  3. I recently just came back from Italy, and it was AWESOME!!! Florence was my favorite city and the weather there is perfect; not too hot or cold. The style there is very urban and street like, but also fashionable. Mostly there were tourists but the Italians were wearing the designer stuff. Be sure to bring lots of money!! If you live in the united states, the dollar is like half of the Euro. So, if you plan on shopping at some of the chic and cool boutiques and stores, bring more than you think.

  4. You should pack the novel "The Agony and the Ecstasy" by Irving Stone
