I will be travelliing to Vanouver and then up through the rockies, places like Banff and Whistler, then down to Calgary in 2 weeks time (2nd week of july). What kind of temperature is it likely to be? Do I need to pack winter clothes or summer ones? Does it get really cold out on the ocean in a boat? And what kind of clothes should I bring for a bit of hiking in the rockies? Help!

  1. You might want some warmer, but not winter clothes necessarily for the mountains, since it's naturally cooler as you go up the mountains. Overall though you should be fine with summer clothes, I would bring along some stuff to be prepared for a cool spell or for the mountains.

  2. I live in Canada, and currently it is 24˚C which i think is 53˚F? It is also 6:23 PM so it has cooled down a bit. Anyways, it's actually quite warm here now, very summer-ish. I wouldn't go with the Canadian stereo-type and assume that its ice-cold here. If you are mostly planning on staying in Vancouver, then just average summer clothing is okay (shorts, t-shirts, maybe a pair of jeans).

I would bring a sweater or two just for the boat ride because of the land breeze and currents. I don't think it would be that cold on the boat, but better safe then sorry.

For hiking i would probably wear just my normal spring cloths? Maybe wear a sweater as well.

I hope this help, enjoy your trip :)
