Question:

What should I put for "location" if a job I had is no longer at that location?

I worked at a company that had an office in my state, and the main office is in another state. The main office decided to close the smaller office that I worked in, they moved all their stuff out, d/c the phone, etc. So, on a resume, etc, what do I put after the company name when they ask about "location"? If I put where I worked, they might try to contact someone there and nobody is there, but if I put the location of the main office, they might think I used to live in that state and I never did.

  1. Put the location where you went to work. If it's not there any more, the potential employer might be smart enough to look it up and find a main office elsewhere. Or, if they really want to know the info, they can call you and ask. You can then tell them that the office you worked at was closed after you left.

  2. I would write "(closed)" after the address for the local office.

In the next available line, I'd put "Contact xxxxxx corporate office at..."

  3. Why don't you just put the original local address where you used to work and then list the new phone number for the out-of-state office.  They will probably just call anyway and not need the address.  If they ask the company where they are located, the company will probably give them the new address.  At that time, whomever it is that calls them will ask about the address you listed at which time the company will tell them they have closed that branch but that they had an office there at one time.
